Better Strangers is a people-watching game inspired by your daily commute!

Simply select a figure in view—whether in person or a piece of art—and start answering any of the game’s 80 card prompts to weave a complex web of histories, motivations, and desires. Designed to be played in short bursts or during long waits, alone or with friends, and always at a respectful distance, start imagining Better Strangers today!

In Better Strangerscards prompt you to answer questions about a figure within eyesight to create an imaginary backstory for them. Bold prompts can only be applied to someone you're answering a question about for the first time, while italic prompts can only be answered as additional facets of someone you've already started defining.

Available as a custom deck of cards, this digital version includes a black & white zine coordinating prompts to a standard 52-card deck as well as print-and-play sheets of cards to cut out.

Better Strangers is illustrated by Ellie White.

Thanks for the insights into AC’s practice!

Agatha therefore decided once and for all not to use real people as inspiration, and that she must create her characters for herself. She started looking out for people in trams, trains and restaurants who could act as her starting point, and this worked well.
